Hand Reflexology 6 Week Course Outline

Course Aim:

This 6 week absolute beginners course provides a foundation in practical skills together with the background information necessary to carry out basic Hand Reflexology on friends and family within the home. It does not enable students to work professionally upon completion.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  1. Carry out a complete basic Hand Reflexology treatment following a given sequence
  2. Know what is meant by zonal divisions and be able to find reflex points using correct terminology (i.e find your way around the hands!)
  3. Handle and support the hands with confidence
  4. Use a finger/thumb walking and/or sliding technique
  5. Know the reasons behind why a treatment might not be carried out (contra-indications)

Home Study:

It will assist your progress if you have some friends or family who will let you have a practice between classes.

How the Course is Taught:

Explanation of each move and its reflex area white board / flip chart.

Demonstration, revision and new areas.

Practical work linking learning together to a given sequence on another class member help given where needed.

Each week will have time for questions and answers and recapping of moves.

Students will be given a treatment handbook which is followed each week to build up to a complete sequence for class and home use.

Working on tutor's hands to assess pressure and get feedback from fellow students.

What You Will Need to Bring with You:

An A4 ring binder, pen / pencil, two pillows, three small handtowels, 1 small tub of baby powder and/or hand cream, antiseptic hand gel or wipes

Certificate of Attendance awarded.

Foot Reflexology 6 Week Course Outline

Course Aim:

Foot reflexology

This course provides a foundation in practical skills together with the background information necessary to carry out basic foot Reflexology on friends and family within the home. It is also a good starting point for those considering progression to Practitioner level or existing Therapists to try another therapy for CPD. It does not enable students to work professionally upon completion.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  1. Carry out a complete basic Reflexology treatment following a given sequence
  2. Know what is meant by zonal divisions and be able to find reflex points using correct terminology (i.e find your way around a foot!)
  3. Handle and support the foot with confidence
  4. Use a finger/thumb walking and/or sliding technique

Hand Reflexology CPD 1 Day Course Outline

Course Aim:

If you are qualified and insured to carry out Reflexology but lack confidence in applying your therapy to the hands or in offering advice for between treatment self help, then this 1 day workshop is for you. Most Diploma courses are unable to allocate a lot of time to hand treatments yet by applying your existing knowledge you will be able to ensure your own and client comfort and give a full and effective hand treatment.

Certificate of Attendance for claiming CPD Points with your governing body will be issued on completion. (Embody award 5 CPD points for attendance)

The course will include:

  1. A look at what you already know and what areas confidence may be lacking in Hand Reflexology
  2. Recap of existing knowledge - When would you use Hand Reflexology, contra indications, terminology and dividing lines - what do we find where?
  3. Positioning and comfort - adaptability
  4. Treatment moves demonstration and practical work to include self treatment and different situations you might work in using your own sequence.
  5. A course handbook is provided. Tea / coffee / soft drinks are provided. All you need to bring is a pen, and your lunch.

Certificate of Attendance awarded.

Reflexology Introductory Weekend Workshop Outline

The reflexology taster day runs from 10am - 4pm with a 30 minute lunch break.

This day can stand alone as a taster day or lead to another more indepth Beginners or Diploma Course. This reflexology day is particularly useful if you are undecided which therapy you would like to study.

Tea / coffee / soft drinks are provided - Bring your own Lunch

Course Aim:

To enable absolute beginners to get a taste of what Reflexology is all about and to try some hands-on techniques.

The course includes:

  1. Learning some relaxation techniques on the feet and hands.
  2. Looking at the history, theory and benefits of Reflexology,
  3. How the Foot and Hand maps relating to bodily organs developed,
  4. Contra-indications and reactions to Reflexology.
  5. Applying the caterpillar and/or sliding movement to some major organ reflex areas.
  6. In particular, locating the Spine, neck and shoulders on the feet and hands and applying the correct support and treatment moves
  7. Question and Answer time for each student to enquire abuot any particular reflex areas useful to their own particular needs

What You Will Need to Bring with You:

2 pillows, 3 hand towels, antiseptic wipes or hand gel, pen and paper, lunch
